Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Delivery Van Driver to join our distribution team on a permanent basis. This role involves safe and timely delivery of goods to customers, maintaining vehicle standards, and providing excellent service. The ideal candidate is punctual, professional and able to work independently while following company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliveries: Safely load, transport and deliver orders to customers according to route schedules; ensure correct paperwork is completed for each delivery.

• Customer service: Represent the company professionally at all times; greet customers courteously, obtain required signatures and handle queries or minor issues on delivery.

• Vehicle care: Perform daily vehicle checks, report any defects or damage, maintain cleanliness of the van and ensure fuel and basic maintenance needs are met.

• Health & safety: Follow manual handling best practice and company safety procedures; use PPE where required and report incidents promptly.

• Documentation: Accurately complete delivery records, electronic proof-of-delivery (POD) systems and any required paperwork for returns or damaged goods.

• Time management: Plan and follow efficient routes, manage time to meet scheduled windows and adapt to route changes as directed by dispatch.

• Teamwork: Liaise with warehouse and dispatch teams to ensure accurate loading and resolve any order issues; support colleagues during peak periods when required.

• Compliance: Adhere to company policies, traffic laws and regulations governing commercial driving; ensure all licences and certifications are current.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence with category C1 or other relevant entitlement as required by the role; clean driving record preferred.

• Previous experience in a delivery or driving role preferred (typically 1+ years).

• Comfortable performing manual handling tasks and loading/unloading packages; ability to lift up to 25–30 kg regularly.

• Good timekeeping, communication skills and customer service orientation.

• Familiarity with handheld devices or mobile apps for proof of delivery is advantageous.

• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
