Position Overview

We are looking for a Lead Analytical Chemist who excels in cannabinoid analysis and methodological innovation to lead our team.  The Lead Analytical Chemist will be responsible for overseeing analytical testing, method development, and ensuring the highest quality standards in our products.  The Lead Analytical Chemist will oversee the analytical chemistry department, focusing on enhancing and developing methods for testing cannabis, hemp, and alternative products. This role is pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in our testing processes, influencing product safety and efficacy across the industry.

Key Responsibilities of Lead Analytical Chemist

• Direct and enhance the performance of the analytical chemistry team, ensuring a collaborative and high-standard work environment.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods tailored for the precise analysis of cannabinoids, terpenes, pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants.
• Oversee the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced analytical instruments like HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, and NMR.
• Collaborate with R&D and regulatory teams to ensure methodologies comply with evolving industry standards and state regulations.
• Innovate and integrate new technologies and methods to stay at the forefront of cannabis and hemp analytics.
• Mentor and develop staff in specialized analytical techniques and regulatory compliance.
• Manage laboratory accreditation processes and ensure continuous compliance with quality standards.
• Lead the scientific dialogue with regulatory bodies and stakeholders, presenting findings and advocating for science-based policies.Develop and validate analytical methods for various product components.
• Manage the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Train and mentor junior chemists and technicians.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall project goals.
  

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Masters or higher degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in analytical chemistry, with at least 1 years in a leadership role specifically within the cannabis or hemp testing industry.
• Expertise in chromatographic techniques and mass spectrometry as applied to cannabinoid analysis.
• Proven leadership and team management skills in a high-throughput laboratory environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and proactive management abilities in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong communication skills for effective internal collaboration and external engagement.
• Detailed knowledge of cannabis testing regulations and accreditation standards such as: ISO/IEC 17025.PhD or MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of method development and validation protocols.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and quality assurance.

Compensation

• Salary range: Starting ~ $70,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
• Revenue share and / or bonus available

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
