Position summary
The Permit Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end permitting process for residential and commercial construction projects. This role ensures permit applications are prepared accurately, submitted on time, and actively tracked through approval. The position requires strong organization, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Accountabilities:
Handle all aspects of the permit process for commercial and residential
construction projects.
Prepare and submit permit applications in accordance with
jurisdictional requirements.
Compile, review, and organize all required permit documentation from
architects, engineers, consultants, and other professionals.
Ensure permit submittals are complete, accurate, and compliant with
applicable codes and regulations.
Track permit applications from initial submission through issuance and
final approvals.
Follow up with plan reviewers, building departments, and other
regulatory agencies to monitor review status and resolve comments.
Coordinate resubmissions and revisions in collaboration with design
professionals and internal teams.
Communicate permit status, timelines, and issues to project
managers, superintendents, and leadership.
Identify potential permitting risks or delays and escalate issues as
appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in the construction industry,
preferably with exposure to permitting or project coordination.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word,
and Excel.
Outstanding team-player with excellent interpersonal and
communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced,
demanding environment.
Local travel is required (1-2 times per week) for this position to
courthouses and municipalities as needed (standard mileage is
reimbursable)
