We are looking for a skilled, safety-focused, and dependable Reefer Trailer Technician II to support theinspection, servicing, diagnosis, and repair of refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration systems.
This role is suited to an experienced technician who understands refrigeration systems, trailer equipment, electrical controls, and preventative maintenance. The successful candidate will take ownership of technical work, maintain accurate service records, and help ensure that refrigerated trailers operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable standards.

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Reefer Trailer Technician II to carry out intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on refrigerated trailers, transport refrigeration units, and associated systems.
You will inspect equipment, diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration faults, complete preventative maintenance, and support the safe and efficient operation of the fleet. This role requires sound technical judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with colleagues, drivers, suppliers, and other operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, service, maintain, and repair refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, and refrigeration system faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
Carry out preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, safety inspections, and operational checks.
Repair and replace refrigeration components, electrical wiring, control systems, belts, hoses, filters, batteries, sensors, and related equipment.
Test refrigeration units to confirm correct operation, temperature control, alarm functions, and system performance.
Investigate temperature-control issues, refrigerant leaks, equipment alarms, and intermittent system faults.
Use technical manuals, wiring diagrams, service information, and manufacturer guidance to complete repairs accurately.
Complete work orders, inspection reports, parts records, repair documentation, and maintenance records accurately and on time.
Identify additional repair requirements and communicate findings clearly to supervisors and relevant operational teams.
Support the safe preparation of trailers for inspection, release, dispatch, and return to service.
Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Follow company procedures, risk assessments, environmental requirements, and health and safety regulations.
Assist with complex repairs, technical investigations, fleet improvement projects, and mentoring less experienced technicians.
Respond to urgent breakdowns or service requirements when required by the operation.
Requirements
Previous experience as a reefer technician, trailer technician, refrigeration engineer, mobile engineer, HGV technician, or in a similar role.
Practical experience maintaining and repairing transport refrigeration units and refrigerated trailers.
Working knowledge of refrigeration principles, electrical systems, mechanical components, and temperature-control equipment.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, service instructions, and equipment documentation.
Experience using diagnostic tools, electrical test equipment, pressure gauges, and common workshop tools.
Understanding of preventative maintenance programmes, fault diagnosis, and equipment safety checks.
Relevant technical qualification in refrigeration, air conditioning, vehicle maintenance, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
Relevant refrigerant handling certification or equivalent industry accreditation is preferred.
Commitment to safe working practices, quality standards, and reliable customer service.
A full UK driving licence may be required, depending on operational needs.
