Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations with a focus on job costing, month-end close, and construction accounting. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project profitability analysis, and assisting with the transition of accounting processes and CPA oversight. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction or project-based accounting environments and be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Maintain job costing records, project budgets, and profitability tracking for ongoing projects.
Prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support revenue recognition processes.
Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including billing, collections, vendor payments, and invoice processing.
Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
Prepare cash flow reports and support annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
Assist with sales tax filings, 1099 preparation, and audit support.
Document accounting procedures and workflows to improve process consistency and efficiency.
Support the transition of accounting operations and coordination with external accounting partners as needed.
Maintain accurate financial records across multiple business entities and accounting systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2–5 years of accounting experience; construction or project accounting experience preferred.
Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and profitability reporting.
Experience with month-end close processes and account reconciliations.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting functions.
Experience with construction accounting software such as ComputerEase (Deltek) is preferred.
Experience documenting accounting processes and system workflows.
QuickBooks experience, including manufacturing or custom-field environments, is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Compensation & Schedule
$60,000-$70,000
Monday-Friday - 9:00 am-5:00 pm
